Live cell function is monitored on 96- or 384-well Pixel plates with proprietary semiconductor microchips embedded at the base of each well. Cells grow in culture media on top of each microchip containing over 100,000 nanoscale electrode-based sensors, enabling thousands of measurements to be taken per well on a single-cell level.
Pixel reveals live cell behavior that couldn’t be measured before. Scientists are using the data it generates to unlock new applications in cardiac function, stem cell biology, endothelial and epithelial cells, cancer cell biology, neuron function, and mechanism of action/toxicology.
